Blown service fuses are spiking this winter—up 350%—as homes add batteries and EV chargers.
Risk rises when the main breaker is upgraded but the service fuse isn’t, and when high loads overlap (EV/battery charging + heating), especially during “3-for-free” midday periods.
Install checklist:
✅ Assess total demand + simultaneous use (ask about “3-for-free” plans)
✅ Confirm service fuse, consumer mains, and main breaker ratings
✅ Set battery import limit or recommend EV charging rate
✅ Upgrade mains/breaker or apply for supply upgrade if needed (service fuse or 3‑phase)
Safety note: Only a licensed electrician can remove a service fuse, per the VESI Code of Practice.

Fridays fault finding!!
Some genius hit a cable, didn’t say a word, and then acted surprised when the mains into the house copped it and blew up. We got called in to fault find, chase it down, make it safe, and sort the repair properly.
Not exactly the kind of underground surprise anyone wants on a job.
Big safety reminder: damage like this can cause loss of power, fire risk, arc faulting, and serious injury if someone touches or disturbs the wrong thing. If you’re digging near services, locate them first and report any damage immediately — silence can turn a simple mistake into a very dangerous one.
