And no, it doesn’t always have to be because something’s broken!

Sometimes it’s just the little things around the house that slowly start driving you nuts.

The fan that sounds like it’s about to take off.

Still got old halogen downlights? Here’s why they can be dangerous 👇🔥

Plenty of older Aussie homes still have halogen downlights, and while they might still work, they’re worth having checked.

🔥 They run seriously hot
Halogen globes can reach temperatures of a few hundred degrees. If insulation, dust or other combustible material is too close to the fitting, it can create a serious fire risk.

🏠 Ceiling insulation matters
Australian electrical and building requirements have rules around how insulation is installed around downlights and electrical equipment. Older installations may not meet the standards we expect from modern fittings today.

💸 They use a lot more power
Halogens turn a large amount of their energy into heat rather than light. Modern LED downlights can give you great lighting while using significantly less electricity.

🥵 And all that heat has to go somewhere
In a Queensland summer, the last thing you want is extra heat being pumped into your home and ceiling space while the aircon is trying to cool it down.

💡 The better option? LED downlights.
Modern compliant LED downlights are cooler running, and much more energy efficient.

If you’ve bought an older home around Bundaberg, are renovating, or you’re not sure what’s hiding above your ceiling, it might be time to get those old halogens checked.

Modern ceiling fans can use significantly less power than older fans, while still keeping your home comfortable 🙌🏼

They also get rid of that annoying “tick… tick… tick…”your old fan has developed.
