The Place team recently got behind the Property Industry Foundation Pedal for Homeless Youth, with four of our team taking on the cycling challenge and three volunteering their time to support the cause.
 
The event saw more than 245 riders from 23 companies across Queensland’s property and construction industry, all pedalling towards one shared goal: helping provide safe and secure homes for young people experiencing homelessness.
 
Shout-out to all the riders, volunteers and the PIF team behind the event. We are glad to have played a part in supporting an initiative creating meaningful change for young Queenslanders.

Place Design Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Tamara Wiseman as Principal.  Based in the GCC for the past 13 years, Tamara will continue to lead the delivery of the Ras Al Khaimah project from the UAE and drive new opportunities across the region.
 
Tamara brings over 21 years’ experience delivering master plans, urban strategy and policy projects across the Middle East and Australia, with expertise spanning strategic planning, policy and governance, master planning and land use planning, project management and urban design guidelines. She is passionate about helping clients achieve positive and forward-thinking outcomes in changing and challenging environments.
 
Tamara will be working closely with our in-region partners and clients, and we encourage our network to reach out if you are visiting the UAE.

It was a pleasure to welcome QUT Landscape Architecture Society students to our Brisbane studio for a Sketch & Sip evening.
 
Bringing students and industry together creates valuable opportunities to connect, exchange ideas and share experiences beyond the classroom. It was fantastic to spend the evening sketching, chatting and getting to know the next generation of landscape architects.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Tim Field as Director at Place Design Group.
 
With more than 15 years’ experience as a designer and project leader, Tim has played a pivotal role in strengthening our Sydney studio and expanding our presence across New South Wales. Since joining Place, he has helped deliver some of the state’s most significant public realm, open space, active transport, recreation and master planning projects, while building and mentoring a remarkable team.
 
James Birrell, National Executive Director, says, “Tim’s appointment as Director recognises his exceptional leadership and the impact he has had in shaping Place’s continued growth and success. Tim combines outstanding design capability with commercial insight and a genuine commitment to our clients, projects and people. Building on our work on the Vision and Framework Plan, we are excited to be back on the ground in Ras Al Khaimah as the project enters its implementation phase.

Strengthening our ongoing collaboration with the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality Department, we are pleased to be partnering with Robert Bird Group and Colliers UAE on this project, translating a shared vision into a practical delivery plan.

We are proud to continue our long-term commitment to the Emirate, supporting its ongoing evolution and growth. 

As we move from strategy to implementation, this marks an exciting milestone in the journey. We look forward to sharing more updates as the project progresses.

Gunyama Park Stage 2 is open!
 
Place Design Group has delivered the design for Gunyama Park Stage 2, a landmark community open space in the heart of Green Square, Zetland. It’s the largest playground delivered by City of Sydney, building on the success of the adjacent Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre (Stage 1 Andrew Burgess and TCL).
 
Stage 2 features a play space, a youth-focused skate park, passive green space and multi-use park amenities, designed to support wellbeing across all ages and abilities.
 
The design takes inspiration from Sydney’s rugged coastline, integrating endemic flora and natural materials in line with City of Sydney’s commitment to sustainable, Country-first design. First Nations representation has been woven throughout the park, with Place working closely with Djinjama to deliver key interpretive elements, storytelling and a space for cultural practice and connection.
 
Environmental initiatives include an extensive green roof to the amenities building, high canopy targets and a planting design that reflects the local seasonal calendar, nesting boxes and bee hotels to attract local fauna back into the area.
 
Gunyama Park Stage 2 is now the premier open space for the growing Green Square and Zetland community.
