🤔Thinking your farm or business needs more than 100 kW of solar?

From 1 October 2026, the Federal commercial solar rebate expands to eligible systems up to 1 MW.

That means larger rural businesses may now be able to access support on systems that previously sat above the rebate limit.

The Federal Government estimates eligible projects could see around a 20% reduction in upfront installation costs.
If your power use is high and a bigger solar system has been on the list, it is worth running the numbers again.

We did a check in with the customer after the install. Here’s what they told us.

Generator has run roughly 4 hours on cloudy days. That’s it.
Other than that, the batteries have been covering the site.

📍Springside and Pittsworth, QLD.
📅Installed Jan 2026.
🔋59kW solar, 88kWh battery, 33kVa backup generator.

Before solar: around $1600 a month on power.

September is prep season. November is when the weather starts arguing back.

📍This is Bredbo, NSW. Off grid ground mount, built for extremes.

18.3kW solar + 58.8kWh battery.
It regularly drops below -8°C in winter, so we built in a heated battery system that can operate down to -30°C without performance degradation or failure.

To keep production strong all year, we ran multiple arrays at 30° and 40° pitch. And because it’s a high wind zone, we used bifacial panels rated for cyclonic conditions.

🍗Also yes, the emu did show up for a progress check.

Cyclone season runs 1 November to 30 April, so if you’re in QLD, now’s the time to get your power sorted.

A commercial solar quote should be more than a price.

It should clearly show:
➡️ system size
➡️ panel and inverter brands
➡️ expected output
➡️ how the design suits your site
➡️ what is included in the install
➡️ what support happens after handover

If it does not show the detail, you are not really comparing like for like.

That is why asking the right questions early matters. A good quote should help you understand what you are getting, not just what it costs.

🔋If a commercial battery has been sitting in the too expensive basket, it may be worth looking at the numbers again.

📅From 1 September 2026, eligible NSW businesses can access the NSW Commercial Battery Rebate under the PDRS.

The incentive covers eligible battery systems from 20 kWh through to 30 MWh, with indicative discounts of around 20 to 30% for battery only projects and around 30 to 40% when new or additional solar is installed.

For farms and regional businesses with high power use, that could make a real difference to the cost of a project.
