Which solar setup are you actually running? 🤔⚡️

A lot of blokes think slapping a few panels on the roof means they’re "off-grid." Hate to break it to you, but if you’re still getting a letter from an energy retailer every three months... you are very much on the grid.

Winter is not the problem. It is the window.

If your solar setup is ticking along alright now, this is the time to check it over before summer starts asking more from it.

Panels can look fine. Batteries can seem alright. Wiring and inverter performance can sit there quietly through the cooler months. Then summer rolls around, the pumps work harder, the days get longer and that is when small issues start showing themselves.

When does your business use the most electricity?
That one question can tell you a lot.

• Inverter hitting its limit
• Battery already low by afternoon
• Big start up spikes from welders and compressors

Workshop power dropping off after lunch?

You’re not imagining it.

This is a classic farm solar issue. You can have plenty of panels and still get sluggish tools in the arvo because workshop loads spike fast. Welders, compressors and saws pull hard and the system can hit limits.

What’s usually going on:
• Batteries are already low from earlier use
• Inverter is tripping or hitting its output limit
• Your tools are drawing more at start up than the system can deliver

The fix is not always “more panels”. Sometimes it’s storage, inverter capacity or changing when heavy loads run.
