Power outages don’t just switch off the lights - they can take critical building infrastructure offline.
RPGS was recommended through the strata industry to assist a body corporate with a recurring issue: whenever the power went out, the basement stormwater pump system stopped operating, leaving the car park vulnerable to flooding and putting lifts, vehicles and residents’ property at risk.
The solution was more than simply installing a generator. The system needed to detect an outage, respond automatically and keep the stormwater pumps running when they were needed most.
RPGS coordinated the project from start to finish, with Cushway Blackford & Associates completing the electrical engineering design, MPS Building Projects handling the excavation and concrete works, and Jubilee Energy supplying and positioning the generator.
Working alongside DAH Electrical, RPGS completed the installation, including an Automatic Transfer Switch, Matelec soft-starter control panel, four-float level-control system and new cabling throughout the car park.
Following final testing and commissioning, the system performed exactly as designed - giving the body corporate confidence that its stormwater pumps can continue operating during a power outage.
For strata and facilities managers, resilience is about protecting assets, reducing the risk of costly damage and giving residents peace of mind.
