Blackberries don’t disappear with one quick spray. Timing, coverage and follow-up all make a huge difference.

We put together this simple “Do This / Not That” guide with a few practical tips we’ve learnt from working in the paddock. 🌱

✔️ Spray actively growing plants
✔️ Aim for full cane and leaf coverage
✔️ Follow up regrowth
✔️ Pick suitable weather conditions

❌ Spraying stressed plants
❌ Spraying before rain or in windy conditions
❌ Expecting one application to solve everything

Always read and follow chemical labels and seek professional advice where needed.

A practical upgrade taking shape out at Dunkeld.

This project included the installation of a new trough setup and surrounding infrastructure designed to allow stock access from three sides.. improving stock flow, reducing pressure around the trough and making better use of the paddock layout.

There’s still more to come, with new fencing to follow as the project progresses.

We enjoy being involved in projects like this that combine practical planning with durable rural infrastructure built for everyday farm life.

In the process of widening an existing laneway setup out at Dunkeld.

A fair bit of welding, steel and problem solving goes into building something that’ll make moving stock easier and improve the flow of a property for years to come.

We enjoy the challenge of finding solutions that balance innovation, functionality and longevity.

Found these pigs close to home during a recent thermal scout with the drone.

Thermal technology gives a completely different perspective of what’s moving across rural properties after dark.

Closer than you think.

Most farms have a museum.

Old machinery. Old wire. Old stories.

The tools change, but the country doesn’t.

What’s the oldest thing still sitting on your place?

Over the past week we’ve had the opportunity to speak at Portland Central School and Oberon High School as industry representatives for drones and emerging agricultural technology.

As part of the introduction to drone technology and industry applications facilitated by Brooke Watts, we were able to share how drones are being used in real rural operations. From mapping and mustering through to thermal imaging, monitoring and aerial imagery.

Truthfully, stepping into classrooms and speaking in front of students is well outside our comfort zone. But 2026 has already pushed us to grow in ways we never expected, and we’re incredibly grateful for opportunities like this.

Being able to represent rural industry, share our experiences and hopefully inspire a few of the next generation about the future of ag and technology is something we don’t take lightly.

Huge thanks to Brooke Watts and the schools for having us — we’re excited to see where this space heads next 🚁

Built on the ground. Backed by the sky.

At TL Rural, we combine practical on ground experience with modern drone technology to help landholders better understand and manage their country.

From pasture monitoring and property mapping to seasonal imagery and infrastructure planning, aerial mapping provides a clear view of your property from above, helping support informed decisions on the ground.
