Solar and battery install completed in Lisarow ☀️🔋

This Central Coast home is now set up with an 11.9kW solar array and 24.18kWh of battery storage, using 25 x 475W AIKO Solar Neostar 2P panels paired with a Sigenergy SigenStor battery system.

The roof faces north, which is generally great for solar, but this property also had plenty of shading to work around. That made smart panel placement and careful system planning especially important.

The install included:

Where does your solar power go when your home isn’t using it? ☀️

Without a battery, excess solar energy can flow back to the grid. Then, when you need electricity after sunset, you draw power from the grid again.

A battery lets you save some of that excess solar for later, helping you use more of the energy your panels produce at home.

This time, we’re adding more thermostat-controlled roof vents. The idea is simple: draw warm air out when the roof space heats up, with the fans staying off below their set temperature.

The NSW Home Energy Saver loan may make a solar upgrade more accessible, but it does not make every quote the right choice.
Eligible NSW homeowners and landlords can apply for zero-interest finance of up to $15,000 for approved energy-saving upgrades. The loan is funded by the NSW Government and delivered by Brighte.
Brighte provides and manages the loan, assesses each application and makes all credit approval decisions.
When choosing your solar provider, look beyond the lowest price. Ask:
Who will actually install the system?
Why have those products been recommended for your home?
Who supports the warranties in Australia?
What support will be available if you need help in five years?
Your solar equipment will be part of your home for years. Choosing the right system and a team you trust matters.

Not every solar issue is obvious from the ground.

During this annual maintenance check, we inspected the inverter readings, voltage, current, fixtures and overall system condition. The inspection also revealed a broken panel on the roof.

The system was isolated before work continued, and the damaged panel will be replaced.
It’s a good example of why professional solar maintenance matters. A thorough check can identify physical damage and other issues that may otherwise go unnoticed.

What would your battery actually power during a blackout?

During the recent Central Coast outage, batteries took over in a number of Aura customers’ homes. For some with Sigenergy and Sungrow systems, the changeover was so seamless they barely noticed the grid had gone down.

But backup capability varies. The battery you choose, your system design and the circuits configured for backup all affect what stays powered. That could mean your essentials or considerably more of your home.

When comparing batteries, ask about storage capacity and what that system will actually run during an outage.
