An Australian first in the NT
Elaine Mills Property Management (EMPM) Becomes "The Indigenous Real Estate Company"
Elaine Mills, with a distinguished 25-year career in real estate and 18 years leading her own business EMPM, is embarking on a groundbreaking new venture. She is joining forces with her sister-in-law, Tricia Pearce, and their daughters, Terri Walters and Kasey Kopp, to establish The Indigenous Property Group Pty Ltd, trading as The Indigenous Real Estate Company. This initiative is set to make history as Australia's only Aboriginal-owned and operated real estate agency.
The Indigenous Real Estate Company will continue to operate from their established office in Garramilla (Darwin), which has been serving the community since 2006. They also plan to expand their presence in Mparntwe (Alice Springs), where EMPM began operations in 2023 after securing a contract to manage homes on the Ilpeye Ilpeye Sadadeen Estate.
Elaine Mills and Terri Walters bring a wealth of experience in the real estate industry, with Elaine having been honored with accolades such as the 1999 Property Manager of the Year and with the 2017 NT Innovation Award from the Real Estate Institute of the Northern Territory (REINT). Tricia Pearce and Kasey Kopp contribute their expertise from working with Aboriginal-run organisations in Central Australia, while Terri adds her experience with Indigenous organisations in both Garramilla and Mparntwe.
The company specialises in property management and also offers properties for sale. Looking forward, they plan to diversify into commercial real estate. Their future goals include training local Indigenous individuals to become property managers and sales agents, further empowering the community and fostering local talent.
