10-Storey Building
Drainage & Sewerage System-
A 10-storey building uses a vertical drainage system to collect wastewater from all floors and safely discharge it to the municipal sewer or septic tank.
Main Soil Stack (4" / 100 mm): Carries sewage from
toilets (WC).
Waste Stack (3" / 75 mm): Carries wastewater from
sinks, basins, showers, and bathtubs.
• Vent Stack (2" / 50 mm): Provides airflow, prevents foul odors, and maintains proper pressure in pipes.
Horizontal Branch Pipes: Connect sanitary fixtures on
each floor to the vertical stacks.
Building Drain: Main underground pipe that collects all
wastewater and conveys it to an inspection chamber.
Inspection Chamber (IC): Allows inspection, cleaning,
and maintenance of the drainage system.
• Final Disposal: Wastewater flows to a septic tank or the public sewer network.
v Purpose: Safe wastewater disposal, odor control, proper ventilation, and easy maintenance of the plumbing system.
